Couples Therapy

A brief introduction

Using The Gottman Method of couples therapy, we start with a thorough assessment, to understand what areas of strength and weakness exist in your relationship. In couples therapy, you will practice skills and strategies to strengthen those areas where your relationship needs help. The Gottman Method is based on more than 25 years of research into what makes relationships work. For more information, please see: The Sound Relationship House theory.

It is very common to feel nervous or concerned about attending couples therapy, particularly if you believe one person will be blamed for things in the relationship. At Heart Psychology's approach is collaborative, non-judgmental and respectful. In couples therapy, the relationship is the client, not one or other of the partners. As such, we work to strengthen the dynamic and patterns of interaction between you as partners.

Couples therapy sessions are 90 minutes long.
