If you are referred by a GP under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative (Mental health treatment plan) or are referred by a psychiatrist, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session up to a limited number specified by the government (currently 10 per calendar year).

You do not need to have a referral from your GP to book an appointment (self-referral). In this case you may be eligible for a rebate from your private health fund. Please contact your health fund to check if you are covered.

Individual session (50 minutes + 10 minutes admin):  $250
Discounted rates available for self-funded full-time students.

Couples therapy (90 minutes): $290*​
 

*Please note that Medicare rebates do not apply for Couples therapy, regardless of whether both partners have a Mental health treatment plan or not.
